Hyderabad: AIMIM President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi criticized the Telangana government’s decision to relocate the Telangana High Court from the old city. Owaisi, addressing a meeting of AIMIM workers, argued that the old city, being the original Hyderabad, should retain its institutions and heritage. He proposed relocating Chanchalguda Jail to the outskirts and using its land for a new High Court building. Owaisi expressed concern over the proposed High Court location in Budvel, emphasizing that the cost would be considerable. Additionally, he suggested moving the Central Armed Reserve out of Petlaburj to utilize the land for a KG to PG campus. Questioning the motive behind shifting the High Court from the old city, Owaisi accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of undermining the historical significance of original Hyderabad. He criticized the Chief Minister for labeling the people of the old city as electricity thieves, stating that such derogatory remarks were condemnable. Referring to the relocation of important institutions over the years, Owaisi questioned whether the Chief Minister intended to turn the original Hyderabad into a barren area separated from the capital. He underscored the need for respectful language when discussing areas inhabited by tribals, Dalits, and Muslims. Owaisi recalled AIMIM’s support for Bhaskar Rao’s government in 1984, emphasizing that it was not for personal gain but to establish a minority educational institution, Deccan College of Medical Sciences. He lauded the institution’s contributions, producing over 5000 doctors serving globally. Asserting AIMIM’s commitment to defeating the BJP, Owaisi urged other parties to align against the BJP consistently. He questioned why critical states like Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh were allowed to be won by the BJP, highlighting the need for concerted efforts to prevent the return of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Owaisi challenged Modi’s claim of no hostility against minorities in India, citing incidents in the Lok Sabha where a BJP MP openly abused a Muslim MP without facing disciplinary consequences.
