Chennai, Jan 2 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation for development projects valued at over Rs.20,000 crore in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. The projects encompass vital sectors such as rail, road, oil and gas, and shipping, aiming to bolster the state’s progress and create numerous employment opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the audience, PM Modi emphasized the significance of these projects in fortifying Tamil Nadu’s infrastructure and connectivity. Expressing condolences for the recent floods in the state, he assured support and collaboration with the Tamil Nadu government in overcoming challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Prime Minister paid tribute to the late actor-turned-politician Vijaykanth and acknowledged the contributions of Dr M S Swaminathan in the realm of food security. Reflecting on Tiruchirappalli’s rich heritage, Modi highlighted the governance models of past dynasties like Pallava, Chola, Pandyas, and Nayaks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his speech, PM Modi underscored the global recognition of India’s economic prowess, attributing the state of Tamil Nadu as a prime ambassador for the ‘Make in India’ initiative. He spoke about the newly inaugurated projects, including the Tiruchirappalli International Airport’s New Terminal Building, five railway projects promoting industry and electricity generation, and new road projects connecting key centers of faith and tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PM Modi also emphasized the Centre’s focus on port-led development, detailing projects aimed at transforming coastal areas and improving the lives of fishermen. He mentioned initiatives like the Kisan Credit Card for fishermen and the PM Matsya Sampada Yojana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Highlighting the significant financial support to Tamil Nadu, PM Modi stated that the Central Government has allocated record expenditure, benefiting the state in various sectors.
