Puttaparthi (Andhra Pradesh), Jan 16: Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a spiritual journey as he offered prayers at the historic Veerabhadra Temple in Lepakshi, located in Andhra Pradesh\u2019s Sri Sathya Sai district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having arrived in Puttaparthi from Delhi, the Prime Minister made his way to Lepakshi, a site of significance in the Hindu epic Ramayana. Legend has it that Jatayu, the giant eagle, followed Goddess Sita to Lepakshi after her abduction by Ravan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his visit, the Prime Minister engaged with the temple priests, who elucidated the historical and religious importance of the site. Modi performed various rituals, chanting the \u2018Shri Ram Jai Ram\u2019 bhajan, and listened to verses from the Ranganatha Ramayana in Telugu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adding cultural elements to the visit, a puppet show depicting events from the Ramayana was presented to the Prime Minister. He explored the premises of the historic temple and took a keen interest in Lepakshi handicrafts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The timing of Modi’s visit is notable, coming just a week before the scheduled inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Following his time in Lepakshi, the Prime Minister proceeded to inaugurate the new campus of the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes & Narcotics (NACIN) at Palasamudram in the same district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
