Gastroenterologist N.A. Rajesh explained that the jaundice was caused by a tumor obstructing the bile duct, leading to bile accumulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The patient was unable to continue chemotherapy due to the jaundice,&#8221; Dr. Rajesh noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Given the patient&#8217;s advanced age and physical frailty, the medical team decided on a minimally invasive procedure called choledochoduodenostomy. This procedure, guided by advanced endoscopic ultrasound technology, involved creating a stent-supported new pathway between the bile duct and the duodenum (part of the small intestine), allowing the bile to drain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the procedure, the patient experienced significant improvement, including a restored appetite and relief from severe itching and sleeplessness.
