India Achieves Significant Milestone in Rural Tap Water Connections<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Delhi August 05<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of August 1, 2024, India has made substantial progress in providing rural households with tap water connections. According to the Ministry of Jal Shakti’s recent reply to the Rajya Sabha on August 5, 2024, the overall percentage of rural households with tap water connections has reached 77.83%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several states and union territories have achieved complete coverage, including Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Telangana, Goa, and Puducherry. The Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu also reported 100% coverage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other regions have shown remarkable progress as well. Uttarakhand stands at 95.2%, while Bihar has achieved 96.08%. Ladakh and Nagaland reported 93.28% and 91.67% coverage, respectively. Sikkim and Lakshadweep are also nearing full coverage with 89.06% and 89.36%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, some states are still working towards improving their rural water supply. Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal have reported 51.86% and 51.23% coverage, respectively. Kerala is at 53.34%, and Jharkhand at 54.04%. Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Karnataka have achieved 86.42%, 84.62%, and 78.17% respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other notable figures include Andhra Pradesh at 73.48%, Chhattisgarh at 74.11%, Odisha at 74.11%, and Assam at 80.31%. Meghalaya and Manipur reported 80.29% and 79.59% respectively, while Mizoram stands at 78.5%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This data highlights the significant strides India has made in ensuring access to tap water for rural households, with many regions achieving impressive coverage and others steadily progressing towards the goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
