Hyderabad, December 04,2024:<\/strong> In a significant boost to India’s cybersecurity and IT innovation landscape, the Telangana government has signed an agreement with Google to establish the country\u2019s first Google Safety Engineering Center (GSEC) in Hyderabad. This landmark initiative underscores Hyderabad’s position as a leading global hub for technology and innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The proposed GSEC in Hyderabad will be the fifth of its kind globally and the second in the Asia-Pacific region after Tokyo. It will function as an international cybersecurity hub, dedicated to developing advanced security technologies, artificial intelligence-based safety solutions, and fostering collaboration among cybersecurity experts and researchers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Google announced its intent to establish the center during the Google for India 2024 Conclave held on October 3. Following this announcement, multiple states actively competed to attract Google\u2019s investment. Telangana emerged as the preferred choice, thanks to its proactive measures and strategic engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy played a pivotal role in this achievement. During his visit to the US earlier this year, he met Google\u2019s leadership at their headquarters and initiated discussions to bring the GSEC to Hyderabad. A high-level delegation led by Google\u2019s Chief Information Officer, Royal Hansen, met the Chief Minister and IT & Industries Minister Sridhar Babu at the CM\u2019s residence in Jubilee Hills on Wednesday. During the meeting, Hansen praised Telangana\u2019s leadership in digital skill development and highlighted Hyderabad\u2019s standing as a global hub for IT services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHyderabad is already home to five of the world\u2019s leading tech giants\u2014Google, Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, and Facebook. With the Safety Engineering Center, we aim to tackle cybersecurity challenges at an accelerated pace while boosting talent development,\u201d Hansen said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
