Yadadri Unit 2 Powers Telangana Forward<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Veerlapalem Village in Nalgonda District witnessed a milestone in Telangana’s energy landscape on Saturday as Unit #2 of the Yadadri Thermal Power Station (YTPS) was dedicated to the nation. The 800 MW unit is part of the 5×800 MW YTPS project undertaken by Telangana Power Generation Corporation Limited (TGGENCO), which aims to significantly boost the state’s power generation capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was marked by the presence of Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who inaugurated the unit by unveiling a commemorative pylon. Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, along with other ministers, MPs, MLAs, and officials, also attended the ceremony. The Chief Minister inspected operations at Unit #2 and reviewed ongoing construction work across the power station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unit #2 has commenced coal-fired operations, following synchronization with oil on September 12, 2024. The first coal rake arrived on November 3, 2024, through a newly constructed railway line. Unit #1, which synchronized with oil earlier, is expected to transition to coal shortly, while the remaining three units are on track for completion by May 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The YTPS project, with a total capacity of 4000 MW, represents a significant investment of \u20b936,131.99 crore. When fully operational, it will double TGGENCO’s installed thermal capacity to 8042 MW, enhancing Telangana\u2019s energy security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Focus on Sustainability<\/strong>
The YTPS incorporates advanced pollution control technologies to minimize environmental impact:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • High-efficiency Electrostatic Precipitators to limit air pollution.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Flue Gas Desulphurisation (FGD) units to control sulfur oxide emissions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Selective Catalytic Reactors (SCR) to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Zero Liquid Discharge systems to optimize water use.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Plans to transport dry fly ash via rail, reducing road traffic and associated pollution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    The plant operates on 100% indigenous coal sourced from Singareni Collieries, aligning with Telangana\u2019s vision for energy self-reliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy highlighted the role of the YTPS in addressing the growing energy demands of the state while ensuring sustainable practices. “YTPS is a testament to our commitment to providing reliable and eco-friendly power to the people of Telangana,” he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    With its progressive commissioning schedule and state-of-the-art facilities, the Yadadri Thermal Power Station is poised to become a cornerstone of Telangana\u2019s energy infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
