The festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm and zeal, and it marks the beginning of a new year, new hopes, and new beginnings.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The word &#8220;Ugadi&#8221; is derived from two Sanskrit words &#8211; &#8220;Yuga&#8221; and &#8220;Adi&#8221; which mean &#8220;age&#8221; and &#8220;beginning&#8221; respectively. The festival is celebrated on the first day of the Chaitra month, which is the first month of the Hindu calendar. People also prepare a special dish called &#8220;Ugadi Pachadi,&#8221; which is made of six ingredients that symbolize the different emotions of life &#8211; bitter, sweet, sour, salty, tangy, and spicy.
