New Delhi, August 7, 2025<\/strong> \u2014 A delegation from the Deccan Journalist Housing Society (DJHS) has urged Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to expedite the allocation of housing plots for journalists in Hyderabad, particularly in the proposed Future City project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The delegation, led by DJHS President Bolloju Ravi and comprising director Pratap Reddy, members Naveen Dumma Ji, Satish Yadav, and others, met the Chief Minister at his residence in New Delhi on Thursday. They pressed for the fulfillment of his pre-election promise to provide residential plots to journalists\u2014a commitment that was also included in the Congress party\u2019s election manifesto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DJHS reminded the Chief Minister that he had reiterated this pledge publicly after assuming office and had even stated his readiness to sign the housing society file \u201cin a minute.\u201d However, they expressed concern that the process has stalled following a recent Supreme Court verdict, which cast a shadow over the allotment of land for journalists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The court ruling pertains to a 38-acre land parcel allocated to the Jawaharlal Nehru Journalist Mutual Aided Co-operative Housing Society in Pet Basheerabad, Hyderabad. The verdict has disrupted previous plans, leaving hundreds of journalists uncertain about their long-standing hopes for affordable housing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the legal setback, the DJHS remains optimistic. The delegation suggested that the Chief Minister could explore legal avenues, including a possible review petition, to resolve the issue. They also cited recent proactive measures by the Andhra Pradesh government to support journalists with housing, encouraging Telangana to take similar steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emphasizing that many journalists come from marginalized backgrounds, the DJHS appealed for equitable welfare support, including access to housing benefits comparable to other underprivileged sections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
