Horticulture Commissioner Yasmin Basha Inaugurates All-India Horticulture Show; Focus on Terrace Gardening and Sustainable Practices<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hyderabad, September 18, 2025: The 18th edition of the Grand Nursery Mela\u2014an All-India Horticulture Show\u2014was inaugurated today at People\u2019s Plaza, Necklace Road, Hyderabad, by Horticulture Commissioner Yasmin Basha. The five-day event, which brings together horticulture enthusiasts, gardeners, and exhibitors from across the country, showcases a wide variety of plants, gardening products, and innovative green practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her inaugural address, Commissioner Basha highlighted the growing importance of creating green spaces in cities increasingly dominated by concrete structures. She underscored the Horticulture Department\u2019s initiatives to popularize terrace gardening in urban households. \u201cTo encourage terrace gardening, we are conducting training programmes every second Saturday. These sessions aim to inspire citizens, teach practical techniques, and spread awareness about sustainable gardening,\u201d she said.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mela features a vibrant display of horticultural diversity. Visitors can explore stalls offering medicinal plants, kitchen and outdoor plants, seedlings, adeniums, bonsais, creepers, flowering plants, imported exotics, water lilies, coco peat, gardening tools, and accessories. Rare seeds and hybrid varieties from different states have also been put on sale, giving gardening enthusiasts access to unique plant collections under one roof.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Event in-charge Khaleed Ahmed informed that more than 150 stalls have been set up for the exhibition, with participants coming from Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana\u2019s famed Kadiyam nurseries. \u201cThe mela also highlights modern gardening techniques such as terrace gardening, vertical gardening, and organic growing methods. A major attraction is the exotic plants stall from Kalimpong, West Bengal, which is drawing much attention,\u201d he added.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mela, open daily from 9 AM to 9 PM until September 22, offers plants priced between \u20b930 and \u20b93 lakh, catering to both casual plant buyers and serious collectors. Organizers expect thousands of visitors, including families, gardening enthusiasts, and nature lovers, to attend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
