Hyderabad, September 22, 2025 (Staff Correspondent):<\/strong> AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi<\/strong> has launched a blistering attack on the Indian government after the announcement by former US President Donald Trump<\/strong> that the H1B visa program would be scrapped. Calling the move a major blow to Indian professionals<\/strong>, Owaisi argued that the decision reflects the systemic failure of India\u2019s foreign policy<\/strong> under the present regime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Owaisi pointed out that nearly 71\u201372% of H1B visas are issued to Indians<\/strong>, with a large chunk going to IT professionals from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh<\/strong>. \u201cThe average Indian H1B holder earns around $120,000 annually<\/strong>, which has long supported India\u2019s $125 billion remittance economy. These two states alone account for 37% of India\u2019s NRI deposits<\/strong>. This closure shuts a vital door for intergenerational economic mobility,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Trump Acted for His Country, But What Did Modi Achieve?\u2019<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

While clarifying that he holds no personal grievance against Trump<\/strong>, Owaisi said the former US President acted in what he believed to be America\u2019s national interest<\/strong>. His criticism, however, was squarely directed at the Indian government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat did \u2018Howdy Modi\u2019<\/strong> or \u2018Namaste Trump\u2019<\/strong> deliver for Indians? Organizing NRI events in Madison Square Garden or exchanging birthday greetings cannot be passed off as foreign policy victories. The scrapping of H1B visas primarily targets Indians, and if the US, touted as our strategic partner, does not consider India an ally, then it is clearly a failure of this government\u2019s diplomacy<\/strong>,\u201d Owaisi declared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018India Is Growing More Isolated\u2019<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Owaisi placed the H1B issue within a larger context of India\u2019s global setbacks<\/strong>, citing a string of developments in recent years:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • High tariffs<\/strong> imposed by the US on Indian goods,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • The US\u2013Pakistan trade agreement<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • The Pakistan\u2013Saudi strategic deal<\/strong>, which he alleged was carried out with US backing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    \u201cThese are signs of India\u2019s growing diplomatic isolation<\/strong>, while our neighborhood becomes increasingly hostile,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Call for Expanding Rupee Trade<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Owaisi also highlighted India\u2019s de-dollarization initiatives<\/strong>, noting that trade settlements in rupees are already underway with more than 18 countries, including Qatar and several ASEAN nations<\/strong>. He urged the government to expand this framework to all major trading partners<\/strong>, ensuring India is not coerced by external powers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u201cWe must not yield even an inch to Trump\u2019s pressure tactics,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u2018A Lost Decade for India\u2019<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    The AIMIM chief accused the Modi-led government of sacrificing long-term national interest for short-term political optics<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u201cThis is not about political point-scoring. The government must seriously introspect why India faces such repeated foreign policy and national security setbacks. Are these reduced to mere gimmicks? The impact does not fall on Modi, but on ordinary Indians<\/strong> who now lose opportunities abroad,\u201d Owaisi said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
