India on Monday celebrated its 77th Republic Day<\/strong> with grandeur and patriotic fervour, marking the historic adoption of the Constitution of India<\/strong>, which came into force on January 26, 1950, transforming the country into a sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic<\/strong>.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The highlight of the national celebrations was the spectacular Republic Day parade<\/strong> held along Kartavya Path<\/strong> (formerly Rajpath) in the national capital. President Droupadi Murmu<\/strong>, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, presided over the ceremony, unfurled the national flag, and took the salute, accompanied by a 21-gun salute<\/strong> and a ceremonial guard of honour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The central theme of Republic Day 2026<\/strong> was the sesquicentenary (150 years)<\/strong> of \u201cVande Mataram\u201d<\/strong>, the iconic patriotic song composed by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee<\/strong>, first published in 1882<\/strong>. The song, which played a pivotal role during India\u2019s freedom struggle, continues to symbolize national unity and pride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • The Indian Air Force flypast<\/strong> featured fighter aircraft and helicopters, with a special formation carrying the \u201cOperation Sindoor\u201d<\/strong> flag<\/li>\n\n\n\n

        Adding to the cultural richness, 17 tableaux from States and Union Territories<\/strong>, along with those from central ministries and departments, depicted India\u2019s regional diversity, development initiatives, and cultural heritage.         The parade commenced around 10.30 am<\/strong>, shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi<\/strong> paid floral tributes at the National War Memorial<\/strong>, honouring the sacrifices of India\u2019s fallen soldiers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
