More than <strong>90 per cent<\/strong> of these surgeries were performed <strong>free of cost<\/strong> under government-supported healthcare schemes such as <strong>Aarogyasri<\/strong> and the <strong>Chief Minister&#8217;s Relief Fund (CMRF)<\/strong>, ensuring that economically disadvantaged patients receive advanced surgical care without financial burden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chief Minister <strong>A. Revanth Reddy<\/strong>, who serves as the President of the Governing Council of NIMS, congratulated NIMS Director and Senior Professor of Urology &amp; Renal Transplantation, <strong>Dr. Rahul Devraj<\/strong>, along with the Departments of Urology, Surgical Gastroenterology, Surgical Oncology, Anaesthesiology, Nursing Services, Operation Theatre staff, and other supporting teams for achieving the historic milestone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Chief Minister said the achievement reflects NIMS&#8217; unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation, and equitable healthcare delivery. He noted that integrating robotic technology into routine clinical practice has significantly improved surgical precision, reduced postoperative pain and blood loss, shortened hospital stays, and enabled faster patient recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to NIMS, the <strong>Department of Urology<\/strong> performed <strong>590 robotic surgeries<\/strong>, followed by <strong>248 surgeries<\/strong> by the <strong>Department of Surgical Gastroenterology<\/strong> and <strong>162 surgeries<\/strong> by the <strong>Department of Surgical Oncology<\/strong>. These procedures covered a broad range of complex cases, including urological, gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, pancreatic, colorectal, gynaecological, and oncological surgeries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Department of Urology carried out robotic procedures on patients ranging from <strong>one year of age to over 80 years<\/strong>, including highly complex surgeries such as radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer, radical cystectomy for bladder cancer, robotic renal transplantation, urogynecological surgeries, Boari flap reconstruction, ureteric reimplantation, pyeloplasty, including paediatric cases, and several advanced reconstructive procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Health Minister <strong>Damodar Raja Narasimha<\/strong> congratulated the doctors, nurses, technicians, and support staff of NIMS for achieving the rare milestone.
