Hyderabad April 10: The Sheep and Goat Breeders Association (GMPS) has urged the state government to implement a direct beneficiary transfer (dbt) system for the distribution of sheep. In a petition submitted to the state director of the animal husbandry department, Dr. Ramchander, the association called for an end to corruption and the involvement of brokers in the distribution of sheep.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Udutha Ravinder, the state general secretary of the association, nearly 4 lakh Golla Kurumas have received sheep so far, while 3,72,020 beneficiaries are still waiting. He alleged that brokers and some veterinary officials have profited from corrupt practices in the distribution process.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To ensure transparency and fairness, the association has demanded that beneficiaries receive direct cash transfers without the involvement of brokers. Additionally, shepherds should be given the flexibility to purchase sheep from wherever they choose.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Responding to the association’s demands, Director Ramchander urged beneficiaries to report any irregularities to district collectors. He also promised to bring the association’s concerns to the attention of the government.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The petition was submitted under the auspices of the state committee of the association, with the participation of state leaders including Ameerpet Mallesh, Ekkaladevi Komuraiah, Tummeti Balakrishna, Jillela Pentaiah, and Jogu Anil.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
