Record Rainfall in Telangana’s Mulugu District; Several Places Witness Heavy Showers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hyderabad, July 27: Telangana’s Mulugu district experienced the highest-ever rainfall in the state during the past 24 hours, with Laxmidevipeta village in Venkatapur mandal recording 64.98 cm of rainfall. This surpassed the previous record of 51.75 cm set in Wazeed village on July 19, 2013.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The state is witnessing vigorous southwest monsoon, leading to heavy rainfall across several districts since Wednesday. As many as 35 locations received over 20 cm of rainfall, while 200 places recorded over 10 cm of rainfall during the 24-hour period ending at 8 a.m. on Thursday.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Isolated places in districts such as Mulugu, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Hanumakonda, Warangal, Mahabubabad, Jangaon, Karimnagar, and Adilabad witnessed extremely heavy rainfall, exceeding 204.4 mm.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chityal in Jayashankar Bhupalapally recorded 61.65 cm of rainfall, while Chelpur in the same district received 47.58 cm, and Regonda recorded 46.70 cm of rainfall.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society, the state received an average rainfall of 97.7 mm during the past 24 hours, which is significantly higher than the normal average of 7.1 mm. Thus, the state experienced 1276 per cent excess rainfall during this period.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several districts, including Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Rajanna Sircilla, Peddapalli, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Suryapet, Khammam, Jayashankar, Mulugu, Hanumakonda, Warangal, Mahabubabad, Jangaon, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Karimnagar, Jagtial, and Wanaparthy, witnessed very heavy to heavy rainfall.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

From June 1 to July 27, the state experienced a cumulative 60 per cent excess rainfall, with a total of 513 mm of rainfall compared to the normal average of 321.1 mm, as reported by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
