Hyderabad, September 21: Bharat Serums and Vaccines Limited (BSV) marked the beginning of construction for its state-of-the-art bio-pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Genome Valley, Hyderabad, on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The upcoming facility, spanning 10 acres, represents a substantial investment of Rs 200 crore by the company and is poised to play a pivotal role in the production of a wide array of medical products, including women’s health products, rabies vaccines, immunoglobulins, and hormones, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In its first phase, the facility will focus on commissioning the fill-finish formulation line, significantly increasing BSV’s capacity for injectables. Phase 2 of the project will see the establishment of an additional multi-product line, further enhancing the facility’s production capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
BSV’s new facility is strategically positioned to cater to both domestic and international markets, including regulated markets like the United States and the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by key dignitaries, including K.T. Rama Rao, Telangana’s Minister for Industry and Commerce; E.V. Narasimha Reddy, CEO of Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC); Shakthi M Nagappan, CEO of Telangana Lifesciences; and Sanjiv Navangul, Managing Director & CEO of BSV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Expressing his enthusiasm, K.T. Rama Rao highlighted the significance of BSV’s decision to establish its manufacturing facility in Genome Valley, emphasizing the tremendous potential and comprehensive ecosystem that Genome Valley offers to the life sciences sector. He described Telangana as a burgeoning biotech hub that prioritizes innovation not only for India but also for the global market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
BSV currently operates manufacturing facilities in Ambernath, Maharashtra, serving both domestic and over 80 export markets, as well as a manufacturing facility in Aachen, Germany, catering to international markets. Headquartered in Mumbai, BSV ranks among the top 10 biotech companies in India, boasting a portfolio of over 145 brands.
