New York, October 3: A 19-foot statue of B.R. Ambedkar, named the ‘Statue of Equality’ and considered the largest of its kind outside India, is scheduled to be unveiled in the US state of Maryland on October 14. This event aims to celebrate the life and enduring legacy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the leader and architect of the Indian Constitution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Located on a 13-acre plot of land in Accokeek city, just 21 miles from the White House, this statue is a replica of the world’s largest 125-foot Ambedkar statue that was recently unveiled in Hyderabad, India, as per the organizers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Ambedkar International Center (AIC) has declared it as the “largest statue of Ambedkar outside India” and it’s a part of the organization’s inaugural Ambedkar Memorial project in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
AIC stated, “Be a part of this inspiring occasion as we honor Dr. Ambedkar\u2019s contributions to equality, human rights, and empowerment. Witness the grand unveiling of the magnificent statue, a symbol of his enduring influence, and pay homage to the great leader who dedicated his life to fighting injustice.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The unveiling event is scheduled to commence at 10 a.m. and will be followed by cultural performances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The statue was crafted by the renowned artist and sculptor Ram Sutar, a recipient of the Padma Shri award, who is also responsible for constructing the largest Sardar Patel statue in Ahmedabad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over the past six decades, Sutar has created more than 90 monumental sculptures placed in various locations across India, the United States, France, Argentina, Italy, Russia, and Malaysia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
