Hyderabad: The Deccan Journalist Housing Society (DJHS) has submitted a request to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President Kalvakuntla Tarakarama Rao, urging the inclusion of the issue of housing allotment for journalists in the party’s election manifesto. The petition was presented at the BRS office on Saturday, outlining several key points of concern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DJHS emphasized that journalists played an active and pivotal role in the movement for the formation of the separate state of Telangana. However, even after a decade since the state’s establishment, several longstanding issues concerning journalists remain unaddressed. The DJHS, under the leadership of President Bolloju Ravi, is committed to fulfilling the longstanding dream of providing housing for eligible journalists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The key points to be prominently featured in the election manifesto include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. Each journalist should be allocated 300 square yards of housing space.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. The Council of Ministers should make a prompt decision and issue an order for the allocation of housing space at a designated location within one month of coming to power.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. The government should extend financial assistance of Rs. 10 lakhs to facilitate the construction of houses for journalists.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Retired journalists should be provided with a pension of Rs. 10,000.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. An order should be issued to grant free education, from kindergarten to postgraduate level, in government and private educational institutions to the children of journalists.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Directives should be issued to extend health schemes, similar to those for government employees, to journalists and their family members.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    The DJHS has made a strong plea for these provisions in the election manifesto, emphasizing the need to address the housing and welfare concerns of journalists who have contributed significantly to the state’s development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
