Hyderabad September 03:
In a significant move, the Communist Party of India (CPI) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) have expressed their commitment to address the housing needs of journalists in the state of Telangana. During a recent meeting, prominent leaders from these parties conveyed their unwavering support for ensuring journalists have access to adequate housing.
The leaders who conveyed their party’s commitment to this issue included CPM State Secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram, CPI State Secretary Koonanneni Sambasivarao, National Secretary Narayana, and National Working Committee member Chada Venkata Reddy. They met with representatives from the Deccan Journalist Housing Society (DJHS), including President Bolloju Ravi, Vice President Maripala Srinivas, Treasurer Chilukuru Ayyappa, and Directors Danda Ramakrishna and Dega Kumar.
During these meetings, the CPM and CPI leaders assured the journalists that their respective parties would actively work to address the housing needs of journalists. As part of this commitment, they promised to include the issue of journalists’ housing in their election manifestos.
One noteworthy moment during these discussions was when T. Sagar, a member of the state party’s secretariat, proposed that Tammineni Veerabhadram be included in the party’s election manifesto committee on the spot, underscoring the urgency and importance of the matter.

Bolloju Ravi, the DJHS president, emphasized that in addition to providing housing for journalists, the government should also grant them a financial assistance package of Rs. 10 lakh. He requested that this issue be explicitly included in the election manifestos of the CPI and CPM, highlighting that similar appeals had been made to other political leaders from the BRS, Congress, and BJP parties.
The Deccan Journalist Housing Society has been actively engaging with various political leaders and parties, including meeting with Ministers KTR and Harish Rao, MLC Kavitha, TPCC President Revanth Reddy, and BJP President and Union Minister Kishan Reddy, to advocate for addressing journalists’ housing needs.
This development underscores the growing recognition of the need to ensure journalists have access to suitable housing and marks a positive step towards fulfilling this critical requirement. As the election season approaches, the commitment from CPI and CPM holds significant promise for journalists in Telangana seeking improved living conditions and support from their government.
