
New Delhi, November 6: In the midst of the ongoing West Asian crisis, Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a crucial telephonic conversation with Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, during which he reiterated India’s steadfast and consistent stance on the Israel-Palestine issue, according to official sources.
The two leaders exchanged their perspectives on the challenging situation in the West Asia region, particularly the Israel-Hamas conflict.
Prime Minister Modi expressed deep concern regarding the acts of terrorism, violence, and the unfortunate loss of civilian lives. President Raisi shared his assessment of the situation.
Both leaders underscored the importance of preventing further escalation, ensuring the continuous provision of humanitarian aid, and the early restoration of peace and stability in the region.
Furthermore, the leaders conducted a comprehensive review of the multifaceted bilateral cooperation, and they expressed their appreciation for the emphasis placed on the Chabahar port in Iran, which plays a pivotal role in enhancing regional connectivity.
Both sides affirmed their commitment to maintaining close contact, reflecting their shared interest in promoting regional peace, security, and stability.
On November 5, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar also addressed the “grave situation” in West Asia during his conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian. Jaishankar stressed the significance of averting escalation and providing humanitarian support while emphasizing the importance of ongoing dialogue.
