PM Modi Vows to Empower OBCs, Promises BC Chief Minister in Hyderabad Rally
Hyderabad, November 7 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi made significant pledges at a public gathering held at LB Stadium in Hyderabad on Tuesday. Addressing the crowd in a public meeting titled ‘OBC Atma Gaurava Sabha’ (Self-Respect Sabha), Modi promised that if the BJP is elected to power in Telangana, a leader from the backward classes will be appointed as the Chief Minister. He emphasized that the BJP alone has the ability to politically empower Other Backward Classes (OBCs).
Modi recalled the historical significance of LB Stadium, where the foundation for making the first OBC Prime Minister of India was laid in 2013. He described the stadium as having a special place in his life, where people bought tickets to attend a public meeting, marking a historic event in Indian public life.
During his speech, Modi criticized both the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Congress, labeling them as anti-development and anti-BC (Backward Class). He asserted that BCs, along with the poor, Dalits, Scheduled Castes (SCs), and Scheduled Tribes (STs), are determined to bring about change in Telangana. He accused the current government of being anti-development, anti-BC, anti-SC, and anti-ST during its nine-year tenure.

Telangana was formed with the core issues of water, funds, and job opportunities in mind, Modi reminded the audience, but he claimed that the government had failed to fulfill these promises, terming it an “anti-people” government. He highlighted the significant role played by BCs in the Telangana statehood movement and stated that, after the formation of the state, the government’s most significant betrayal was against BCs.
Modi pointed out commonalities between Congress and BRS, highlighting family rule, corruption, and appeasement as shared characteristics. He stated that parties with a mentality of working for one family would not allow a BC to become the Chief Minister.
The Prime Minister asserted that the NDA and BJP have consistently prioritized the interests of OBCs, Dalits, tribals, and weaker sections. He cited instances where BJP-backed leaders from these communities held prominent positions, such as APJ Abdul Kalam as President and tribal leader PA Sangma as Lok Sabha Speaker. He also mentioned that BJP supported the nomination of Balayogi as the first Dalit Speaker of Lok Sabha and played a role in making Ram Nath Kovind, a Dalit, the President, and Droupadi Murmu, a tribal woman, the President.
Modi noted that the BJP has provided significant political representation to OBCs, with 27 OBC ministers in the NDA government, the largest number of OBC ministers after independence. He highlighted the substantial presence of OBC MPs, MLAs, and MLCs in the BJP.
Additionally, the Prime Minister emphasized BJP’s commitment to social justice, mentioning the constitutional status given to the Backward Classes Commission and the provision of 27% reservation for OBCs in medical and dental colleges.
Modi further announced the allocation of Rs. 13,000 crore under the PM Vishwakarma Yojana to support Vishwakarmas, who constitute a majority among BCs, in overcoming their hardships.
The Prime Minister accused the BRS government of failing to provide jobs and skill development to BC youth and of not fulfilling the promised Rs. 1,000 crore annual budget for BC welfare.
Leaders from various political parties, including Jana Sena Party (JSP) leader and actor Pawan Kalyan, state BJP president G. Kishan Reddy, and MP K. Laxman, also addressed the public meeting.
