Hyderabad, November 12

In the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections on November 30, a significant 4,798 candidates have officially entered the race, with nearly half submitting their nominations on the final filing day across all 119 constituencies. The bulk of submissions, totaling 5,716 sets of nominations since November 3, are from independent candidates. Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj reported that 2,324 candidates filed on the last day, contributing to a total of 2,768 sets. Scrutiny of nominations is scheduled for November 13, and candidates can withdraw until November 15.

The constituency of Gajwel stands out with the highest number of candidates, 145 in total, including Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao seeking re-election for a third consecutive term. Notably, BJP’s Eatala Rajender, former minister and MLA, is contesting against KCR in Gajwel and also running in Huzurabad. Chief Minister KCR is also contesting from Kamareddy, where he faces TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy, who is concurrently contesting from his home constituency Kodangal.

In Medchal, where labor minister Malla Reddy is seeking re-election as a BRS candidate, 116 candidates have filed their nominations. Conversely, Narayanpet constituency in Mahabubnagar district attracted only 13 candidates, while Wyra (ST) in Khammam and Makthal in Narayanpet districts each saw 19 candidates filing their papers.

BRS is independently contesting all 119 seats, while Congress has reserved one seat for its ally CPI. The BJP is competing in 111 seats, leaving the remainder for its ally Jana Sena Party. MIM is contesting nine seats and supporting BRS in the remaining constituencies. The scrutiny process on November 13 marks a crucial step in the electoral journey, paving the way for the final list of contenders in this highly anticipated political event.
