Hyderabad, Nov 14: Tensions are escalating between Telangana Congress chief A. Revanth Reddy and MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi as they engage in a bitter war of words over alleged connections with the RSS.
The feud ignited with Revanth Reddy’s statement implying that there is a ‘khaki knicker’ beneath Asaduddin Owaisi’s sherwani, prompting Owaisi to retaliate, labeling the Congress leader a ‘RSS puppet.’
Owaisi, a Lok Sabha member from Hyderabad and leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has been targeting Revanth Reddy, accusing him of promoting the RSS agenda during election campaigns.
BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao also joined in, claiming that the Congress had transformed its state headquarters into ‘Godse Bhavan’ by appointing someone with an RSS background as the state chief.
Revanth Reddy, while acknowledging his past association with Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), denied any ties to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
The verbal sparring intensified when Owaisi referred to Revanth Reddy as ‘RSS Anna’ during election rallies. In response, Revanth Reddy commented on Owaisi having a ‘khaki knicker’ under his sherwani.
He further associated the MIM party with Qasim Rizvi, the leader of the Razakars, a militia opposing Hyderabad State’s integration with the Indian Union. Revanth Reddy went on to suggest he might start calling Owaisi ‘Qasim Rizvi.’
Owaisi retaliated, defending the sherwani as a symbol of culture and identity, and accused Revanth Reddy of attacking the Muslim identity by promoting a ‘Sanghi’ agenda. He asserted that the RSS was controlling Congress, claiming there was no difference between the BJP and Congress, urging people to reject both parties.
