Telangana Government Grants Rs 2 Crore to Boxer Nikhat Zareen for Paris Olympics Preparation

Hyderabad, December 9: The Telangana government, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, presented a financial aid of Rs 2 crore to world boxing champion Nikhat Zareen. The cheque was handed over to her in the Assembly premises during the launch of the state government’s initiative for free travel for women in TSRTC buses.

Nikhat, accompanied by government officials, expressed her gratitude and pledged to give her best in representing the country and Telangana at the upcoming Paris Olympics. The 26-year-old, hailing from Nizamabad district, is a two-time world champion in the IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships, following her recent victory in 2023.

In addition to the monetary support, Nikhat applauded the government’s scheme for free travel for women in TSRTC buses, emphasizing its role in empowering women. Notably, this financial assistance follows a previous cash prize of Rs 2 crore awarded to Nikhat by the Telangana government in October last year.

The government has also announced plans to allocate a residential plot in either Banjara Hills or Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, as part of its recognition of Nikhat Zareen’s remarkable achievements in boxing.
