In a surprising turn of events, the Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction for the upcoming 2024 season witnessed uncapped cricketer Kashvee Gautam fetching a record price of Rs. 2 crores. The 20-year-old all-rounder, who has not played any international matches, had a fierce bidding war between Gujarat Giants and UP Warriors, with Gujarat Giants securing her services in the end.
Kashvee Gautam, hailing from Punjab, gained attention due to her outstanding performances in domestic competitions, despite not having represented the national team. The significant price tag sets a new record for an uncapped cricketer in the WPL.
Another uncapped player, Vindra Dinesh, a hard-hitting batswoman from Karnataka, also attracted a substantial amount in the auction. UP Warriors acquired her for Rs. 1.3 crores, surpassing her minimum price of Rs. 10 lakhs.
