Cabinet Reshuffle Looms as Six Ministerial Seats Remain Vacant in Telangana

Hyderabad, December16: The political dynamics in Telangana are currently at the forefront as the state cabinet grapples with six vacant ministerial seats. This development follows the oath-taking ceremony on December 7, where Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, along with 11 other ministers, assumed office, leaving six key positions yet to be filled to complete the mandated cabinet of 17 ministers.

In response to the vacancy, the Congress party is strategically navigating the selection process, taking into account factors such as loyalty, seniority, and social representation. The party is keen on ensuring that specific social groups, including BC, ST, SC, and minority communities, are adequately represented in the cabinet.

The contenders for the ministerial posts include notable figures from different social groups. In the minority communities, former minister Shabbir Ali and Feroze Khan are actively in the running, with Shabbir Ali, a senior party member, having higher chances of securing a ministerial post. Among the Scheduled Tribe (ST) contenders, former MLA Podem Veeraiah from the Koya community stands out as a prominent candidate, having served the party faithfully for over three decades.

In the Scheduled Caste (SC) category, MLAs Vivek Venkataswamy and Gaddam Vinod are being considered for the ministerial position. Despite the SC community already having two representatives, the party is contemplating giving another SC member an opportunity. Additionally, the Backward (BC) social groups are being considered for another ministerial position, with former MPs Madhu Yashki Goud and Anjankumar Yadav emerging as potential candidates.

Even in the Open Category (OC) social circles, where ministerial positions have already been allocated, there is speculation that two more members may secure ministries. Notably, Congress has not secured any of the 15 Assembly seats in Greater Hyderabad, and there is an expectation that the capital city will be represented in the cabinet.

The current cabinet lineup includes CM Revanth Reddy, Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, and others, with Gaddam Prasad serving as the Speaker of the Assembly. As discussions and negotiations unfold among aspiring candidates and party leadership, the outcome of the final appointments will shape the composition of the Telangana state cabinet in the days to come. The political landscape is poised for change, with expectations high for a diverse and representative cabinet to be established soon.
