Master Craftsman Kunj Bihari Creates Shri Ram Temple Replica in Gulabi Meenakari
Varanasi, Jan 16: Kunj Bihari, a national award-winning craftsman hailing from Kashi, has meticulously crafted a stunning replica of the Shri Ram Temple using the traditional art form of Gulabi Meenakari. This intricate creation, adorned with gold, silver, and diamonds, took 108 days to complete.
Gulabi Meenakari, recognized under Geographical Indication (GI) and One District One Product (ODOP), is a revered craft in Varanasi. The replica, weighing approximately 2.5 kilograms and measuring 12 inches in height, eight inches in width, and 12 inches in length, showcases the artisan’s expertise. It includes gold, nearly one and a half kilograms of silver, and an uncut diamond on the spire. The temple is comprised of 108 parts, featuring a golden idol of Ram Lalla.
Kunj Bihari, a resident of Gai Ghat in Varanasi, expressed that this unique creation is a result of Lord Ram’s blessings. He mentioned that previous attempts to construct the Shri Ram Temple using Gulabi Meenakari were unsuccessful. However, this time, with the invocation of Lord Shri Ram’s name and devotional songs, the temple gradually took form through Gulabi Meenakari.
Recognizing the international acclaim Gulabi Meenakari has gained, Kunj Bihari expressed his desire to present the replica to the Ram Temple through Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He highlighted that both leaders have played a crucial role in promoting and showcasing Varanasi’s exceptional artisan skills globally.
It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath frequently present exquisite examples of ‘Gulabi Meenakari’ as diplomatic gifts, showcasing Varanasi’s rich cultural heritage on the global stage.
