New Delhi, Jan 22: Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting on Monday to inaugurate the Pradhanmantri Suryodaya Yojana, which aims to install rooftop solar power panels on 1 crore houses across the country. The meeting, held at his residence at Lok Kalyan Marg, followed his visit to Ayodhya on the auspicious occasion of the Pran Pratishtha of the Ram Temple, as per a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

Harnessing Solar Power:
During the meeting, the Prime Minister highlighted the potential of harnessing solar power on every household with a roof. He emphasized that this initiative would not only reduce electricity bills but also make households truly self-reliant (Aatmanirbhar) for their electricity needs.

Objectives of the Yojana:
The Pradhanmantri Suryodaya Yojana seeks to provide electricity to low and middle-income individuals through solar rooftop installations. It also aims to offer an additional source of income for surplus electricity generation.

National Campaign for Adoption:
Prime Minister Modi directed the initiation of a massive national campaign to encourage residential segment consumers to adopt rooftop solar on a large scale. This move is expected to boost the widespread adoption of solar energy and contribute to the overall goal of sustainable and clean power generation.

This initiative aligns with the government’s focus on renewable energy and promoting environmentally friendly practices, marking a significant step towards achieving self-sufficiency in energy needs.
