
Government of Telangana Discontinues Services of Directors in TSSPDCL & TSNPDCL

In a recent development, the Energy Department of the Telangana government has issued an order (G.O.Rt.No.05) dated 29.01.2024, announcing the discontinuation of services for certain Directors in the Transmission Corporation of Telangana Limited (TSSPDCL) and Northern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (TSNPDCL).

The government, in its earlier orders (G.O’s 1st and 2nd), had outlined the appointment process for Directors on the Boards of various organizations under the Energy Department. Directors were appointed for an initial term of two years, extendable up to a maximum of four years.
However, a review of appointments (references 3d to 8th) revealed that some Directors in TSSPDCL and TSNPDCL had been appointed without following the prescribed process. Despite their tenures being extended until further orders (reference 9th), the government has now decided to revisit the appointment process, adhering to the procedure outlined in the initial G.O’s.
The table below provides details of the Directors affected by this decision, along with their years of service:

TSSPDCL:
- J.Srinivas Reddy – Director (Operations) – Service: 9 Years, 2 Months
- T.Srinivas – Director (Projects) – Service: 10 Years, 5 Months
- K.Ramulu – Director (Commercial, DPE, Assessment, and Energy Audit) – Service: 5 Years, 4 Months
- G.Parvatham – Director (HR&IR) – Service: 5 Years, 4 Months
- Ch.Madan Mohan Rao – Director (P&MM) – Service: 5 Years
- S.Swamy Reddy – Director (IPC&RAC) – Service: 4 Months
- Gampa Gopal – Director (E Audit, DPE & Assessment) – Service: 2 Years, 5 Months

TSNPDCL:
- B.Venkateshwar Rao – Director (HR) – Service: 10 Years, 5 Months
- P.Mohan Reddy – Director (Projects) – Service: 5 Years, 4 Months
- P.Sandhya Rani – Director (Commercial) – Service: 5 Years, 4 Months
- P.Ganapathi – Director (IPC&RAC) – Service: 5 Years, 4 Months
Except for B.Venkateshwar Rao (TSNPDCL) and T.Srinivas (TSSPDCL), all Directors were appointed without following the prescribed process.
As a result, the government has decided to discontinue the services of these Directors with immediate effect. The Chief Managing Directors (C&MDs) of TSSPDCL and TSNPDCL are instructed to make alternate arrangements for these positions until the appointment of new Directors is completed.
Furthermore, the C&MDs are directed to initiate the process for the appointment of Directors on their Boards promptly, adhering to the rules outlined in the initial G.O’s.
