Hyderabad, March 4: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of Telangana unveiled its roster for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections on Monday, nominating four candidates for key constituencies.

Incumbents Nama Nageswara Rao and Malothu Kavitha will contest for re-election from Khammam and Mahabubabad constituencies, respectively. Meanwhile, B. Vinod Kumar has been selected to represent the party in Karimnagar, with Koppula Eshwar vying for victory in Peddapalli.

BRS President and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao revealed the lineup after intensive strategy sessions with local leaders over the past two days.

Vinod Kumar, who faced defeat in the 2019 elections in Karimnagar against BJP’s Bandi Sanjay Kumar, seeks to reverse the outcome this time. Sanjay Kumar has already been declared as the BJP’s candidate once more.

Former minister Koppula Eshwar, who encountered a setback in the recent Assembly polls, gears up to challenge sitting MP B. Venkatesh Netha in Peddapalli. Netha, who won the Peddapalli seat on a BRS ticket in 2019, recently switched allegiance to the Congress.

In 2019, the BRS secured nine out of 17 Lok Sabha seats in the state. However, the party faced setbacks last week as Nagarkurnool MP P. Ramulu and Zahirabad MP B. B. Patil defected to the BJP. Patil has been named as the BJP candidate for Zahirabad, while Ramulu’s son P. Bharat will contest from Nagarkurnool under the BJP banner.
