In a significant political development, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) have announced an alliance for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The decision was made public by BRS President K. Chandrasekhar Rao and BSP Telangana state President R. S. Praveen Kumar following a meeting on Tuesday. KCR, as Rao is widely known, emphasized the shared ideology between the two parties, stating their intention to collaborate in the forthcoming polls.
He mentioned that discussions regarding seat-sharing and operational details will be conducted after consultations with BSP supremo Mayawati in the coming days. Highlighting the BRS government’s initiatives for Dalit welfare, KCR affirmed their commitment to furthering the cause of secularism in the face of perceived threats from the BJP.
Praveen Kumar echoed these sentiments, expressing optimism about the alliance’s potential to benefit the people of Telangana. The alliance comes at a time when both parties are navigating through political challenges.
The BRS, which recently lost power in the state, is strategizing for the upcoming elections following defections of some of its MPs.
Meanwhile, the BSP, despite contesting the Assembly elections independently, aims to make an impact through this alliance after failing to secure seats previously. As preparations for the polls intensify, the collaboration between the BRS and the BSP signals a significant realignment in Telangana’s political landscape.
