Record-Breaking Power Supply Achieved by Telangana Discoms
Hyderabad, March 7
Telangana’s electricity distribution companies (discoms) have achieved an unprecedented milestone in the state’s history by supplying 298.19 million units of electricity, surpassing all previous records. This remarkable feat was accomplished on Wednesday when the new government delivered this substantial amount of electricity to consumers statewide.
Despite facing criticism from the opposition regarding potential disruptions due to maintenance and repairs of power lines, the discoms have ensured uninterrupted power supply by making necessary arrangements to meet the peak demand expected in March. This proactive approach has enabled them to deliver electricity at a record level, effectively refuting the opposition’s concerns.

In February, the demand for electricity surged to 15,031 MW, marking a significant increase compared to the 14,526 MW recorded in February of the previous year. This heightened demand is indicative of a rising trend in power consumption, with average consumption reaching 256.74 million units in January and February combined, up from 242.95 million units during the same period last year.
The commitment of Telangana’s discoms to meet the growing electricity needs of the state while setting new benchmarks in power supply demonstrates their dedication to ensuring reliable and efficient energy distribution for the benefit of all consumers.
