Kolkata, March 14: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was hospitalized on Thursday evening following an incident at her home in South Kolkata where she reportedly slipped and injured her forehead, stated the Trinamool Congress.
According to the party’s statement, the Chief Minister had a mishap while walking at her residence in Kalighat on Thursday evening. Confirming the incident, the Trinamool tweeted from its official handle, saying: “Our chairperson @MamataOfficial sustained a major injury. Please keep her in your prayers.”
The Trinamool’s social media cell also shared a photograph showing the Chief Minister with a bleeding forehead. Sources indicate that CM Banerjee has been admitted to the state-run S.S.K.M. Medical College & Hospital, where a team of doctors is attending to her.
Some insiders of the party mentioned that the wound is quite deep. It’s reported that Banerjee was taken to the hospital by her nephew and Trinamool General Secretary, Abhishek Banerjee. Further details are awaited as the situation unfolds.
