New Delhi, March 20: The commencement of the nomination process for the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections, scheduled for April 19, began on Wednesday.
This initial phase will witness polling across 102 Lok Sabha seats, spanning 17 states and four union territories.

Candidates have until March 27 to file their nominations, with the scrutiny of papers set for March 28. The deadline for withdrawal of candidature is March 30. According to the Election Commission, vote counting is slated for June 4.
The first phase will encompass 39 seats in Tamil Nadu, 12 in Rajasthan, eight in Uttar Pradesh, six in Madhya Pradesh, five each in Uttarakhand, Assam, and Maharashtra, four in Bihar, three in West Bengal, two each in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, and one each in Chhattisgarh, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Jammu and Kashmir, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry.
Of note, the first phase will include eight parliamentary constituencies in Uttar Pradesh: Saharanpur, Kairana, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Nagina (SC), Moradabad, Rampur, and Pilibhit.
