Hyderabad, May 21: Telangana’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) carried out extensive searches on Tuesday at the premises of Hyderabad Central Crime Station (CCS) Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Umamaheswara Rao in connection with a disproportionate assets case.
During the raids, the ACB recovered Rs 45 lakh in cash and 65 tolas of gold from Rao’s residence and other properties. The anti-graft agency conducted simultaneous searches at multiple locations, meticulously gathering details of his assets and verifying property documents.
The ACB officers scrutinized records of Rao’s financial transactions as part of their investigation. The searches were carried out at six locations within Hyderabad and four additional sites outside the city. Sources indicate that searches are also being conducted at the premises of Rao’s relatives.
The ACP is accused of accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. Allegations have also surfaced regarding his involvement in irregularities and the misuse of his official position.
Notably, Umamaheswara Rao is the investigating officer in the high-profile Sahithi Infra fraud case, where the accused allegedly defrauded customers of Rs. 1,100 crore. This involvement has brought additional scrutiny to his financial dealings and assets.
