The complainant who filed the POCSO case against former Chief Minister and BJP Central Parliamentary Committee Member B.S. Yediyurappa has died, police reported on Monday.

Police sources indicated that the complainant, suffering from multiple health issues, passed away at a hospital on Sunday night. She was undergoing treatment for a fatal disease. The police have yet to record statements from her family members.

The case was filed at Sadashivanagar police station in Bengaluru under the POCSO Act and IPC Section 354 (A) ahead of the Lok Sabha election, sparking significant controversy in the state.

The complaint alleged that during a visit to Yediyurappa’s residence on February 2 with her daughter, the latter was sexually assaulted by Yediyurappa.

Further investigations revealed that the complainant had previously lodged over 50 complaints against various police officers and authorities, raising suspicions about her habitual filing of cases against influential individuals.

Yediyurappa clarified that the mother and daughter had approached him seeking assistance, claiming the daughter had faced injustice and needed help. He stated that he directed them to the Bengaluru Police Commissioner for further action. The Sadashivanagar police are continuing to investigate the case.
