Popular Telugu actress Hema, who was jailed in connection with the rave party case, was released from the Central Prison on Friday. Despite being granted conditional bail on June 12, her release was delayed due to unfulfilled conditions, according to police sources.
Arrest and Charges
Hema was arrested on June 3 following a police raid on a rave party at a farmhouse on the outskirts of Bengaluru. During the raid, police seized drugs and narcotic substances, including MDMA, cocaine, ganja, and charas. Hema, in a video message post-raid, claimed she was not present at the party and was relaxing at a farm in Hyderabad. However, police assert that she was indeed present at the farmhouse during the raid.
Controversial Scene and Media Outburst
The actress caused a scene while being taken away after a medical test, vehemently lashing out at the media. She accused them of spreading false news, stating, “All your news is wrong. I have been brought here just now. They have collected samples of my hair, nails, urine, and blood. It is not known whether the report will be positive or negative. Whatever is being shown against me is wrong. This is the work you do.”
Details of the Rave Party Bust
The rave party, titled ‘Sunset to Sunrise Victory,’ took place on May 20 and was attended by around 100 people, including techies and Telugu actors. Of the 98 blood samples collected from attendees, 86 tested positive for drug consumption. Police sources confirmed that more than 50 men and nearly 30 women tested positive for drugs.
Investigation and Legal Actions
The police have issued notices to individuals who tested positive for drug consumption at the party. They are also investigating the possibility of a sex racket operating alongside the drug supply. Five people have been arrested in the case, which has been transferred from the Electronics City police station to the CCB’s Anti-Narcotics Wing. Additionally, three police personnel have been suspended for negligence in duty related to the case.
Hema’s release marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the rave party case, which continues to uncover the extent of drug use and potential criminal activities among the attendees.
