Prakasam District — Sidda Raghava Rao, a well-known businessman and former minister, has resigned from the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). His resignation letter was sent to the party president, Jagan Mohan Reddy, today, citing personal reasons for his departure. The letter did not provide further details.

Sidda Raghava Rao’s political career includes serving as the Forest Minister in Chandrababu Naidu’s cabinet following the TDP coalition’s victory in 2014. He was elected as the MLA from the Darsi constituency. However, in the 2019 elections, he contested as the Ongole MP but faced defeat. A year later, Sidda, along with his son Sudheer, joined the YSRCP.

In the lead-up to the upcoming elections, the Sidda family sought the Darsi seat but was not granted it. Instead, the YSRCP leadership offered them the Addanki, Markapuram, and Ongole assembly seats. Sidda Raghava Rao expressed no interest in these positions, which likely contributed to his decision to resign from the party.

This resignation marks a significant shift in the political landscape of Prakasam district, given Rao’s influence and previous ministerial role.
