On Tuesday, Microsoft announced the release of its new Copilot PCs, featuring the latest editions of the Surface Laptop and Surface Pro. These cutting-edge devices are touted as the fastest Windows PCs designed specifically for the AI era.
Available in four color options, the Surface Laptop and Surface Pro start at an estimated retail price of $999. Customers can purchase them on Microsoft.com and the Microsoft Experience Centre.
The standout model, the 64GB Surface Laptop (7th Edition), starts at $2,399.99. This version comes in black, featuring a 13.8-inch display, Snapdragon® X Elite (12 Core) Processor, and 1TB SSD Storage. The larger 15-inch Surface Laptop (7th Edition) with the same RAM and processor starts at $2,499.99.
Microsoft’s Chairman and CEO, Satya Nadella, emphasized the significance of these new devices: “Today marks the beginning of a new era for Windows, with the launch of Copilot PCs. We can’t wait to see how these new AI-powered devices empower people to be more productive and creative.”
The Surface Laptop and Surface Pro are equipped with Snapdragon X Series Processors, ensuring faster performance and all-day battery life. They also feature a powerful Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for advanced AI experiences. Connected to large language models (LLMs) running in Azure Cloud, these Copilot PCs work in tandem with small language models (SLMs) to deliver unprecedented performance.
Microsoft claims that these new devices are up to 20 times more powerful and up to 100 times more efficient for running AI workloads, offering industry-leading AI acceleration.
