Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad on Thursday launched a sharp critique against Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, accusing him of ‘surrendering’ to the BJP. Lalu Prasad expressed his discontent with the Central government’s allocation of resources to Bihar in the Union Budget, likening it to giving the state only a “Jhunjhuna (toy).”
Speaking to the media at the Patna Airport, Lalu Prasad said, “Nitish Kumar has just cheated the people of Bihar on the special category status. He is repeating the statement of the Central government and does not have a stand of his own.” He emphasized the importance of special category status for Bihar, stating, “It is absolutely clear that the development of Bihar cannot take place without getting the special category status for the state.”
Earlier on Tuesday, Lalu Prasad criticized the Union Budget, claiming it had nothing for the poor and farmers. His remarks came following a routine health check-up in Delhi, where he was admitted to AIIMS for a few hours.
Lalu Prasad’s comments highlight the ongoing political tension and dissatisfaction with the Central government’s handling of Bihar’s development needs.
