Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka Criticizes Previous BRS Government for Substandard Construction

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has accused the previous BRS government of negligence and substandard construction practices, following the collapse of a tank wall. He stated that the incident, which occurred recently, is being thoroughly investigated, and the culprits responsible for the faulty designs will soon be identified.

During a review meeting held with energy officials at the Southern Discom corporate office in Mint Compound on Thursday, Bhatti Vikramarka expressed concerns over the quality of infrastructure built under the previous BRS regime. He highlighted that the collapse of the tank wall in Nagarjunasagar’s backwaters in Nalgonda district is not an isolated incident but indicative of broader issues in projects developed during that period.

“We previously believed that only Medigadda and Sundilla in the Kaleshwaram project were substandard, but after this incident, it has become clear that all constructions undertaken by the previous rulers are of inferior quality. The BRS government did not just neglect the Godavari river; they also compromised on projects related to the Krishna river,” Vikramarka asserted.

He pointed out that the tank project, for which an agreement was signed on June 11, 2021, commenced in July 2021 and was completed by July 2023. The recent collapse of the tank wall, he said, exposes the flaws in the previous government’s designs and practices.

Vikramarka also criticized the BRS party for attempting to shift the blame through its media channels. He argued that the Sunkishala project, meant to divert Krishna’s dead storage water for Hyderabad’s fresh water needs, is another example of the previous government’s failures.

“The people of this state have already issued a strong warning to BRS, and they will not rise again,” he said, emphasizing that the investigation into the tank wall collapse will reveal who is truly at fault.

Focus on Quality Power Supply for Hyderabad

On a different note, Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka stressed the importance of providing quality power in Hyderabad to attract significant investments. He mentioned that Hyderabad, as a growing global city and the capital of the country, is attracting interest from multinational companies, particularly in the IT, Pharma, and Biotech sectors.

He directed electricity department officials to ensure a stable power supply, especially during the rainy season, when strong winds and falling trees could damage power lines. He also emphasized the importance of promoting the Vidyut customer helpline number 1912, suggesting that it be expanded similar to the 108 emergency services.

Furthermore, Vikramarka acknowledged that many employees in the electricity department have not received promotions and instructed that appropriate decisions be made to address this issue. He advised the staff to stay alert and adapt to changing times, using social media effectively for public communication. Additionally, he promised to address the space constraints faced by the department in setting up transformers and electric poles by coordinating with other departments.

The Deputy CM’s comments highlight a proactive approach to improving infrastructure and public services in Hyderabad while holding previous administrations accountable for their shortcomings.
