Hyderabad: The vibrant Batukamma celebrations organized by Jandra Sangam took place on a grand scale at Suncity, Bandlaguda, Hyderabad. The event, held in the spirit of Telangana’s rich cultural heritage, witnessed the participation of hundreds of women, who came together to celebrate this iconic floral festival with great enthusiasm and devotion.
Rajendranagar MLA Prakash Goud and TDP State Spokesperson Bugudi Anoop Kumar were the distinguished chief guests at the event. Both leaders praised the efforts of Jandra Sangam for organizing such a large-scale celebration that not only strengthens community ties but also keeps the cultural traditions of Telangana alive. Speaking on the occasion, MLA Prakash Goud highlighted the significance of Batukamma as a symbol of women’s empowerment and unity, while Bugudi Anoop Kumar emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting regional festivals that reflect the vibrant spirit of Telangana.

The event kicked off with women assembling Batukamma—beautiful arrangements of flowers, which are the centerpiece of the festival. As part of the traditional ritual, the women sang and danced around the floral arrangements, offering prayers to Goddess Gauri for prosperity, health, and happiness. The colorful event was marked by lively cultural performances, traditional songs, and the participation of families, making it a memorable celebration for the community.

The organizers ensured that the cultural festivities were accompanied by eco-friendly practices, in line with the environmental significance of Batukamma. The floral arrangements, made entirely of locally sourced flowers, were later immersed in water bodies nearby in an environmentally responsible manner.
The event also served as a platform for bringing together people from different walks of life, further strengthening the bonds of community and promoting the values of harmony and togetherness that the Batukamma festival embodies.
