Nalgonda: A High-Speed Chase and a Trail of Chaos
The Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway turned into a stage for high drama when a thief stole a 108 ambulance in Hayatnagar and led the police on a relentless chase that spanned multiple districts.
The incident began when the thief brazenly hijacked the emergency vehicle and sped toward Vijayawada, blaring the ambulance’s sirens in an audacious attempt to avoid detection. The police, alerted to the theft, immediately sprang into action, setting up roadblocks and mobilizing teams along the highway.
What followed was a tense and dangerous pursuit. From Hayatnagar to Suryapet, the thief recklessly weaved through traffic, threatening officers and endangering lives. The situation escalated when, at Chityala, the thief rammed into ASI John Reddy, who had attempted to intercept the speeding vehicle. Gravely injured, John Reddy was quickly transported to a private hospital in Hyderabad, where his condition remains critical.
The chase intensified as the thief crashed through the gate at the Korlapahad toll plaza in Kethepalli mandal, leaving a trail of destruction in his wake. Determined to end the ordeal, the police devised a daring plan, parking lorries across the highway near Tekumatla in Suryapet mandal. The strategy worked. The stolen ambulance was finally brought to a halt, and the thief was taken into custody.
Investigations revealed that the accused was no stranger to crime, with a history of thefts to his name. While the thief’s audacity shocked many, the incident has also raised serious concerns about the misuse of emergency services and the risks faced by law enforcement. For now, the highway has returned to normalcy, but the memories of the chase linger as a stark reminder of the chaos one individual can unleash.
