Mumbai, January 16, 2025 — Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan was severely injured during a knife attack at his residence in Bandra, Mumbai, early Thursday morning. The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 AM, when an unidentified intruder broke into the actor’s home. Saif was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent surgery for multiple stab wounds.

The Mumbai Police have confirmed that the intruder entered Saif’s residence with the intent to rob. Dr. Nitin Dange, a neurosurgeon at Lilavati Hospital, disclosed that Saif sustained a spinal fluid leak due to the deep stab wound near his thoracic spine. A knife fragment embedded in his spine was successfully removed during surgery. Additionally, Saif underwent plastic surgery for the wounds on his arm and neck.
“Mr. Khan is currently stable and responding well to treatment. While the injuries are serious, we are optimistic about his full recovery,” said Dr. Dange.
Dr. Niraj Uttamani, the hospital’s COO, confirmed the actor’s condition and added that a team of specialists, including cosmetic surgeon Dr. Leena Jain and anesthesiologist Dr. Nisha Gandhi, is overseeing Saif’s care.

The Mumbai Police have launched a detailed investigation into the incident. CCTV footage from Saif’s residence and surrounding areas has been reviewed, leading to the identification of the assailant. Three members of Saif’s household staff have been detained for questioning.
“An FIR has been filed, and our team is actively investigating the case. We have detained suspects based on evidence from CCTV footage and are interrogating them,” stated a police spokesperson.
Initial reports suggested a single intruder; however, sources now indicate that two individuals may have been involved in the burglary attempt. The suspects reportedly gained access to the property a day before the attack.
