Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka Reaffirms Government’s Commitment to Public Land Protection

Hyderabad, April 01,2025: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu emphasized the Telangana government’s commitment to protecting public land and ensuring it is utilized for public welfare. Speaking at a media conference at the State Secretariat on Tuesday, alongside Ministers Dudilla Sridhar Babu and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, he addressed concerns regarding land allocation and ownership in Kancha Gachibowli.

He categorically stated that the government had not encroached upon any land belonging to Hyderabad Central University (HCU). He clarified that the 400 acres of land in Survey No. 25, Kancha Gachibowli, do not belong to HCU but were previously allocated to IMG Bharat, a sports management company linked to IMG Florida. The allocation was later canceled by the then Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy in the interest of public welfare, as no development activity had taken place as per the agreement.

Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka revealed that the 534.28 acres originally allotted to HCU were transferred to Revenue officials on February 3, 2004. Of this, 191.36 acres in Survey No. 36 and 205.20 acres in Survey No. 37 of Gopanpalli village were handed over to the university. However, the subsequent allocation of 400 acres in Survey No. 25 to IMG Bharat had led to legal challenges. The government appointed top legal experts to fight the case in court, ultimately reclaiming the land for the state.

He criticized the previous administration for failing to recover this land, stating that they neglected their responsibility despite Telangana’s long struggle for self-respect and resource ownership. He alleged that instead of protecting state resources, the former rulers conspired to allow the land to remain under private ownership. He pointed out that if the previous governments had genuinely prioritized public interest, they would have fought rigorously in court rather than allowing the land to remain under private control for years.

The current government, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, took decisive action by ensuring that the reclaimed land was not lost to private interests. The entire Cabinet deliberated on the issue and decided to allocate the land to the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) for public benefit. The decision was aimed at generating employment and creating state wealth, Bhatti Vikramarka asserted. The move is expected to pave the way for large-scale industrial development and job creation, benefiting thousands of unemployed youth across Telangana.

He further criticized opposition parties for politicizing the issue instead of appreciating the government’s success in reclaiming valuable land. He accused them of spreading misinformation and misleading the public to gain political mileage. He urged citizens to remain vigilant against false narratives being circulated on social media and to recognize the government’s efforts in securing public assets.

Highlighting the state’s commitment to environmental sustainability, he noted that the draft layout prepared by TGIIC had excluded areas with natural rock formations, including mushroom rock structures, to preserve ecological balance. The government is dedicated to maintaining Hyderabad as a pollution-free city, he added. He assured that special measures would be taken to protect the city’s natural landscape while ensuring that industrial and economic growth continue at a steady pace.

Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka also acknowledged the importance of Hyderabad Central University as a prestigious institution and reiterated the government’s support for its further development. He assured that efforts would be made to enhance the university’s infrastructure, research capabilities, and job placement programs for students. “Our government wants every student who graduates from Hyderabad Central University to secure a promising career and contribute to the progress of our state,” he stated.

The Deputy CM concluded by reiterating that the Telangana government remains steadfast in its mission to protect state resources, ensure transparent governance, and promote economic growth for the welfare of the people.
