Delhi Capitals Bowling Coach Munaf Patel Fined for Breaching IPL Code of Conduct
New Delhi, April 17, 2025: Munaf Patel, the bowling coach of Delhi Capitals, has been penalized for breaching the Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct during Match 32 of the ongoing season against Rajasthan Royals. The incident occurred at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Wednesday.
As per an official IPL statement, Patel has been fined 25 percent of his match fee and handed one demerit point for his actions during the match. He was found guilty of a Level 1 offence under Article 2.20 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which deals with conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game.
While the exact nature of the breach has not been disclosed, sources suggest it involved inappropriate behavior on the sidelines during a tense moment in the match. Munaf Patel admitted to the offence and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction without contest.
Under IPL rules, Level 1 breaches are considered less severe and are dealt with directly by the Match Referee, whose decision is final and binding.

The IPL Governing Council has reiterated its commitment to upholding the highest standards of conduct and sportsmanship, urging all team members—including coaching staff—to adhere strictly to the league’s code of ethics.
This is the first disciplinary action against Patel in the ongoing season. Delhi Capitals have not issued an official comment on the matter as of now.
The match itself saw a thrilling contest between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals, with the Royals narrowly edging past the Capitals in a last-over finish.
