Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Inaugurates Google Safety Engineering Centre in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, June 18, 2025: In a major boost to Telangana’s reputation as a global tech hub, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday inaugurated the Google Safety Engineering Centre (GSEC) in Hyderabad—the first such facility in the Asia-Pacific region and only the fifth globally.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, Member of Parliament Mallu Ravi, senior Google executives, and top government officials. With this landmark launch, Hyderabad joins an elite league of cities including Munich, New York, and Dublin that host GSEC facilities dedicated to advancing digital safety.

Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy highlighted the strong and longstanding partnership between Google and the city of Hyderabad.

“From 2007, when Google set up its first office here during a Congress-led government, to today—Hyderabad has been a proud partner in Google’s growth journey. With nearly 7,000 Googlers working here, this is now the tech giant’s largest campus outside the United States,” the Chief Minister noted.

The CM emphasized that the launch of the GSEC marks a significant milestone not just for Hyderabad, but for India’s growing prominence in global cybersecurity and digital governance.

“In an increasingly digital world, safety, security, and privacy are not optional—they are essential. GSEC Hyderabad will play a critical role in ensuring safer digital experiences for billions of users, not just in India, but globally,” he said.

The Google Safety Engineering Centre will focus on designing and building tools that protect users online, developing advanced privacy and security solutions, and collaborating with government agencies, educational institutions, and startups to create a safer internet ecosystem.

Minister D. Sridhar Babu added that the collaboration between Google and the Telangana Government spans multiple sectors, including:

  • Digital education initiatives
  • Smart traffic and transport systems
  • Cybersecurity for government services
  • Incubation and mentorship for startups

“This is yet another milestone in Telangana’s journey to becoming the digital capital of India. We are committed to fostering innovation while keeping user safety at the core of all digital progress,” said Sridhar Babu.

The Chief Minister concluded by reaffirming his government’s commitment to working closely with global technology leaders to drive inclusive, secure, and sustainable digital development in Telangana.
