20th National Open Karate Championship–2025 Concludes on a Grand Note in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, November 16:
The 20th National Open Karate Championship–2025, organised by GVR Karate Academy to mark Children’s Day celebrations, concluded on an impressive and grand scale at the L.B. Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad, on Saturday. The mega sporting spectacle witnessed the participation of over 850 karate students, athletes, instructors, and coaches from nine states, transforming the arena into a vibrant stage of skill, discipline, and competitive spirit.

The championship was inaugurated by Hon’ble Justice Surepalli Nanda, Judge, Telangana High Court, who graced the event as the Chief Guest. Dr. Saumya Mishra, IPS, presided over the proceedings and added prestige to the occasion.

‘Self-defence is a Right, Not a Choice’: Justice Nanda

Addressing the gathering, Justice Surepalli Nanda praised GVR Karate Academy for organising such purposeful national-level events that help instil confidence, courage, and discipline among the youth.
“In today’s society, women are excelling in every sphere. Along with physical strength, mental resilience is indispensable. Self-defence is not merely a skill — it is a right and a protective shield that every girl and woman must possess,” she said. She encouraged young girls to participate actively in martial arts and commended the Academy for its continuous efforts toward women’s empowerment.

Competitions were conducted in Kata and Kumite across all age groups — from Under-10 to Senior divisions, covering both Boys and Girls categories.

The event began with a spectacular march-past, followed by an impressive Malkham demonstration by young athletes. The cultural dance performances presented by students captivated the audience and set an energetic tone for the rest of the championship.
