New Delhi: Air India has issued a travel advisory asking passengers flying between August 10 and August 20, 2026, to reach airports significantly earlier than usual due to enhanced security measures being implemented at airports across the country.
The airline advised passengers to factor in additional time for check-in, baggage screening, security checks and other airport formalities to avoid last-minute delays.
“Due to enhanced security measures being implemented at airports, guests travelling between 10 August and 20 August 2026 are advised to arrive well in advance of their scheduled departure,” Air India said in a social media advisory.
The airline urged travellers to plan their journeys accordingly and allow sufficient time for the additional security procedures. It said the enhanced arrangements could result in longer processing and waiting times at different stages of the departure process.
The advisory comes as airports across the country step up security arrangements during the period. Chennai International Airport has also announced that it will remain under a high-security alert from August 10 to August 20 and advised passengers to arrive well ahead of their scheduled flight departure.
Airport authorities said additional time may be required for check-in and security screening due to the enhanced measures. The arrangements have been put in place to strengthen passenger safety while ensuring the smooth operation of airport services.
With stricter security protocols in force, passengers are advised to complete their travel formalities well in advance and avoid arriving at the airport close to their scheduled departure time.
Air India said arriving early would help passengers manage the additional security procedures and ensure a smoother travel experience during the period.
