Mumbai: The Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2026 began in Mumbai on September 8 and will continue through September 11, bringing together global stakeholders to discuss the future of financial technology, digital finance and innovation.
According to an official statement issued on Tuesday, GFF has evolved since its inception in 2020 into one of the world’s leading fintech gatherings. The event provides a platform for global dialogue, collaboration and the exchange of ideas while showcasing India’s growing capabilities in digital finance and fintech.
The expansion of GFF reflects the increasing global interest in India’s digital financial architecture. The event also provides an opportunity for India to share its experience with developed economies, emerging markets and countries across the Global South.
India’s Digital Finance Story Takes Centre Stage
India has been reshaping the global fintech landscape through scale, innovation and Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI). The introduction of Aadhaar, wider internet connectivity and the development of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) have significantly transformed the delivery of financial services.
These digital innovations have enabled identity verification, instant payments and consent-based data sharing at population scale. India’s experience demonstrates how technology and digital infrastructure can make financial services more accessible, efficient and inclusive.
Agentic AI, Tokenisation and Quantum Technologies
The central theme of GFF 2026 is “Potential to Impact: Agentic AI | Tokenisation | Quantum: Trusted, Connected, Global Systems for Inclusive Finance.”
The theme focuses on three emerging technologies that are expected to reshape financial systems by making them more autonomous, programmable and secure.
Agentic AI is emerging as a key technology for financial services, enabling systems to sense, decide and act in real time within appropriate governance frameworks. It can help orchestrate financial workflows, strengthen regulatory oversight, improve fraud prevention and deliver personalised services while keeping human decision-making at the centre through explainable intelligence.
Tokenisation is transforming assets into programmable digital units, potentially enabling fractional ownership, faster settlement and interoperable forms of money. The technology could unlock liquidity and broaden participation in capital markets and payment ecosystems.
Quantum technologies represent another major shift, particularly in computation and cybersecurity. Applications ranging from quantum-safe cryptography to advanced risk optimisation could strengthen the resilience and security of future financial infrastructure.
Major Institutions Supporting GFF 2026
The Payments Council of India (PCI), National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and Fintech Convergence Council (FCC) are the principal organisers of Global Fintech Fest 2026.
The event is also supported by several key government and regulatory institutions, including the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Department of Financial Services under the Ministry of Finance, NEST Division of the Ministry of External Affairs, NITI Aayog, Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) and Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA).
With discussions centred on AI-driven finance, tokenised assets, quantum security and inclusive digital infrastructure, GFF 2026 is positioned as a major global forum for shaping the next phase of financial technology and digital financial systems.
